So you made it past the dreaded Monday, and yet for some reason you woke up this morning thinking it was Friday. We feel ya. You're stuck at your desk and now more than ever, the day seems to be dragging on. At this point, your mind starts to wander...and we want to wander with you.
This week, let's pack our bags and get lost in…
Outstanding In The Field.
Join this pop up group of adventurers for an outdoor feast with discussions on food, community and the meaning of place. Held around the nation at some of the most breathtaking locations.
According to their Facebook page, their mission is to re-connect diners to the land and the origins of food, and to honor the local farmers and food artisans who cultivate it.
Since 1999, they have set the long table at farms or gardens, on mountain tops or in sea caves, on islands or at ranches. Occasionally the table is set indoors: a beautiful refurbished barn, a cool greenhouse or a stately museum. Wherever the location, the consistent theme of each dinner is to honor the people whose good work brought them nourishment to the table.
Ingredients for the meal are almost all local and generally prepared by a celebrated chef of the region. After a tour of the site, they all settle in: farmers, producers, culinary artisans, and diners sharing the long table.
“The road has taken us far, but the road also brings us back...it's also sore muscles, tried patience and lengthy late night drives. Whatever the day brings us, the feeling always come back, we are profoundly blessed to make this journey. We are truly humbled by your belief in us and tickled to have you make your way across the field to take a seat at the table!” –Jim Denevan, Founder
So don’t set the dinner table, they’ll happily do it for you.(via Outstanding in The Field)
