Inspired by his great grandfather’s hair tonic and barbershop, the Newport Beach, California-based surfer-slash-model, Chase Wilson, began his quest to create a modern-day pomade and that’s when BYRD Hairdo products hatched in 2012. The company’s holding name, BYRD, was trademarked after Wilson’s nickname, “Big Bird.” The company aims to blend the California lifestyle, surfing, fashion, and classic 60’s aesthetic all into one brand and us over here at LAD must say that they’re hitting all the marks.
A little bit ‘50s greaser, a little bit 90s’ cool, BYRD pairs well with vintage cars and fresh white tees. Based out of Newport Beach, California, BYRD Hairdo Products also draws inspiration from classic idols like 60’s action star Steve McQueen and 50’s old-school surfer Robert August. Wilson said that there was a greater appreciation for daily grooming back in the days and no matter what the occasion was, you strove to look your best.In an interview with GrindTV, Wilson stated that his own must-have essentials include a can of BYRD pomade and his trusty pocket comb. Growing up using all different types of hair styling gels, greases, and pomades, Wilson has become well-versed in what it takes for a hair product to perform. Wilson, a professional surfer who moonlights as an entrepreneur, has set out to create hair products to abolish bad hair days once and for all. And that is what BYRD delivers: superior quality hairdo products for the on-the-go man. Talk about a man’s man.
